Coast Guard Emblem

Henry R. Hosterman (Hank), age 86, of Dousman, WI, died on February 4, 2012 in his home with his loving wife Rachel and family. He was born on June 16, 1925, in Hartford, WI. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, on the USS Poughkeepsie in the North Atlantic, achieving the rank of Seaman, First Class. He graduated from Texas A&I with a degree in Physics. Hank married Rachel M. Hosterman on January 11, 1945 in Camden, NJ.

He worked for Wisconsin Power & Light, (now Alliant Energy), for 33 years, concluding his career as a Director of Operations trouble shooting for many of the generating stations around the state. Hank's extensive knowledge was exhibited in his management and leadership during the expansion of Edgewater Generating station in Sheboygan WI. Prior to that time he was Assistant Manager at Rock River generating station in Beloit, WI.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Eagle River #248 and Dousman Glenn L. Humphrey #364, Shriner's International, Waukesha Commandery #23, Lodge Council Chapter Consistory Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Milwaukee and Past Master of Beloit Lodge #353.

Hank was an avid golfer and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist church in Oconomowoc. Survivors include his wife Rachel M. (Klein) Hosterman of Dousman, his children Richard R. (Terri Leach) Hosterman of Kiel, WI, John Henry (Felicitas Martinez) Hosterman of Sierra Vista, AZ, Karen (John) Ward of Brookfield, WI; eight grandchildren, Rick, Joshua, Jen, Jeremy, John, Rachel, Will and John; great granddaughter Ryenne and his beloved sister Vivian Meeker of Corpus, Christi, TX and his nieces Rita (John) Underwood and Jan Whitely.

A Masonic service followed by the church service will be held on Thursday, February 9 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oconomowoc, WI. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church from 4-5 PM and a reception will be held at the church following the service.

Memorials to the Shriner's Hospital or Good Shepherd United Methodist church. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses who cared for Hank at Purity Dialysis in Oconomowoc, Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital and Aurora Hospital Summit. He and his family are truly thankful for the help he received.
