Louis Morgan, age 75 of Oconomowoc, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012. Louis is survived by his loving wife Jaquelin (nee Wolf), son Louis (Lisette) Morgan II, daughters Kelly Halverson, Megan (David) Weathers and Melissa (John) Ellis, grandchildren Zoe, Leah and Rose Morgan, Morgan and Mackenzie Halverson, Sophia Foss, Melissa, Allison and Taylor Weathers, Jackson and Charlotte Ellis, along with other relatives and friends. Born November 5th, 1936 in Oak Park, Illinois, he moved to Whitefish Bay at the age of three and then to Lac La Belle, Oconomowoc in 1950. A 1954 graduate of Oconomowoc High School, he bought and sank his first sail boat age 15 - the first of nine boats named "Hull No!". He competed in collegiate sailing at Notre Dame University, graduating in 1958 with a degree in mechanical engineering. In his own words "I may be the best engineer in the world, but we'll never know because I've never engineered a thing". After college he served in the Navy for two years as an officer, Lt.jg. On returning to Oconomowoc, he met his true love, Jacquelin Wolf over a Del Monico steak at Bud's Tamasha. They were married in 1962 and honeymooned in the Florida Keys where they first
dreamed of sailing around the world. After numerous jobs, including water ski salesmen, sailmaker and stock broker, he became a charter member of the Chicago Board Option Exchange. This led to a career as a true visionary in the field of market data delivery and the founding of the publicly-held company PC Quote. He served as Commodore of the LaBelle Yacht Club in 1964, the Wisconsin Yachting Association 1972-74, the Inland Lake Yachting Association in 1989-90 and Admiral of Bilge Pullers in 1983-84. Retiring in 1998, he went on to fulfill his lifelong dream of sailing around the world in the Millennium Odyssey Rally, as captain of his yacht, Risqué from 1998-2000. Over the years as a dedicated and loving father, he gave each of his four children a lifelong passion for sailing, skiing, and traveling the world. His passion for life, his strong faith and his never-ending, unconditional love were his greatest gifts. A family focused man, he was compassionate and selfless. Constantly curious about the world, he was a thinker, a teacher and a friend to all. In time, our memories of his life will signify his energy returning to each one of us - he is now discovering all the answers to his questions. Funeral services for Louis will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Mapleton, WI at 1:00 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to, Oconomowoc Area Foundation, PO BOX 185, Oconomowoc, WI 53066, St. Catherine's Catholic Church, W359N8512 Brown Street, Oconomowoc, WI or Inland Lake Yachting Association Foundation, PO BOX 311 Fontana, WI 53125.
